I hope you’re ready for this beautiful Kent marquee wedding. There’s a definite bohemian feel to the large majority of weddings we plan. I think it’s part and parcel of planning a blank canvas wedding. Certainly thus far our clients usually want a day to be relaxed, informal and fairly outdoorsy. Plus it’s no secret we have a penchant for a flower crown.
So it was a genuine delight to plan something a little more classic and elegant for Gemma and Chris. Wed in June this year in Tenterden, Kent. Gemma’s parents live in a beautiful oast house just outside of the village. As luck would have it, the fabulous Ratsbury Barn is half a mile down the road. So that’s a ceremony at Ratsbury and reception at the family home in a marquee then. Perfick, as Pops Larkin would say.
As we were going for classic, elegant and suuuuuper pretty as a general theme, we decided to adorn the huge doorway at Ratsbury Barn with chiffon drapes. Expertly hung by Not Your Average I Do and finished with greenery and branches by one of our most favourite florists, Bloomin’gayles. In the reception marquee, we chose ivory linen (a softer background than white), and Gayle the green-fingered goddess created the most beautiful centrepieces. A range of summery corals, peach and blush. With gold and blush accents in the cutlery and champagne flutes, tapered dinner candles, and stationery designed by a family friend.
A particular design highlight was the fantastic table plan wall we had designed and made for us by David from Hire Love. A prop hire company in Kent we regularly work with and commission. Gemma and Chris are big gin fans (and it also happened to be World Gin Day on their wedding day). Each guest had to find their mini bottle of homemade raspberry gin which bore their table name on. Table names, by the way, were all pharmaceutical drugs as a nod to Gemma and Chris’ professions. A good ice breaker for guests to google as they took their seats. Although not so easy for us all to pronounce…
With catering by the fantastic Urban Pantry, entertainment by an Utterly Wow favourite, Mowgli. Videography by I Will Video, and photography by one of the loveliest ladies in the world, Tarah Coonan, it was a stupendous gathering of wedding talent for the sweetest of couples Kent marquee wedding. Gemma and Chris, thank you for being so trusting, so in love and so speedy with your emails and decision making!
