Our Pick of the Best Barn Venues in Kent

Dry hire/blank canvas weddings are our speciality here at Utterly Wow, and what says ‘blank canvas wedding’ more than a lovely big old barn? We’re fortunate in Kent to have some amazing barn options, many of which we’ve been lucky enough to work at. Here’s the lowdown on what we consider to be the best barn venues in Kent…

1. Great Barn, Rolvenden

It’s no secret that we love a Great Barn wedding. A complete and total blank canvas ready to have couples stamp their style onto it, I actually got married there back in 2013 and we’ve since co-ordinated and designed several weddings at the venue. barn venues in Kent

It can hold up to 160 guests and is licensed inside for ceremonies. It boasts a beaut of an orchard just perfect for a drinks reception (or perhaps an outdoor humanist ceremony), along with another spacious lawn area at the back of the barn, so lots of outdoor space for mingling. We also love that they have made the former site of the mill a built-in stage for a band and/or DJ.

You’ll get exclusive use of this barn from the Wednesday before your event until the Monday morning after.  Offering character, style and total flexibility, the Great Barn is a seriously affordable option and perfect for those wanting a truly rustic, Kentish wedding. barn venues in Kent

2. Court Lodge, Stansted nr Wrotham

We discovered this gem of a barn a couple of years ago, and our clients Linsey and Nick got married here in 2017. Whilst the barn isn’t licensed for ceremonies there is a beautiful little church (St Mary’s) just a 2- minute walk away.

Included in the hire price are tables and chairs for up to 100, and use of a private garden that is beautifully kept. The vast ceiling and beams create a feeling of space yet the barn has a very cosy and intimate feel to it. The barn is available for hire from April to October and you’ll have access to the barn for three days, so plenty of time to decorate and make it look beautiful. Court Lodge Barn is perfect for couples wanting a countryside feel without having to go too far out of London.

3. Kingshill Barn, Elmley Nature Reserve, Minster-on-Sea

In the middle of the gorgeous Elmley Nature Reserve on the Isle of Sheppey lies Kingshill Barn. Be prepared to swerve the cows, chickens and ducks as you drive the two miles through the reserve (passing the occasional bird spotter) to the barn itself.

Seating around 150 guests comfortably and offering a variety of on-site accommodation, including the most chic and stylish shepherds huts you every will see, you can party all night long providing you respect the wildlife!

With a huge window over looking the reserve, outdoor barn store and garden space you’ll get exclusive use from Friday to Sunday and free range for all suppliers. A truly dreamy setting with lovely owners genuinely wanting you to have the most perfect few days, Kingshill Barn is ideal for couples wanting to escape to the rural countryside for a wedding weekend.

4. Preston Court, Nr Canterbury

With three beautiful options for your wedding ceremony, Preston Court is a perfectly self-contained and jaw-droppingly stunning venue. Boasting a working vintage carousel in the main courtyard and enormous, decorative (working!) organs at either end of the barn itself, this quirky venue can be creatively styled to produce something completely unique or paired back to let the existing features shine.

The 17th century barn can hold up to 120 guests for a wedding breakfast and also boasts a glamping area of 16 bell tents for guests who don’t want to travel too far to bed! The bride and groom can also join in the glamping fun in the bespoke Emperors Bridal Suite Tent.  A super stylish secondary barn in the courtyard houses a well-stocked bar for the evening festivities.

Preston Court is one of the more expensive options when it comes to barn venues in Kent, but in uniqueness and finish I’d say it’s unsurpassed. Perfect for those wanting a wedding day that combines rustic charm, quirkiness and something a little more refined.

5. The Cherry Barn, Peasmarsh nr Rye

Ok so, perhaps with this one we are bending the rules slightly but as it’s right on the Sussex/Kent border we’re including it here! A brand new venue for 2018, we already love it.

It allows couples a traditional barn feel but with all the interior mod cons. Seating up to 150 guests, this venue is also licensed for outdoor ceremonies under a beautiful oak framed gazebo.

Venue: The Cherry Barn

The barn is currently a total dry hire venue and gives couples exclusive use for a 48-hour period for their wedding. On-site accommodation can be arranged in the form of bell tents for guests. It also features luxuries such as firepits for the evening, a fully stocked bar, a large bridal preparation room, and the most stylish toilets you’ll ever have the pleasure of visiting.

We are very excited to be planning a wedding here next summer and can’t wait to put our Utterly Wow stamp on it.
