OUR PHILOSOPHY

Dynamic, romantic and authentic…

Typically our clients want a simple, heartfelt ceremony with as many laughs as there are tears; superb quality food and drink served informally and enjoyed in abundance; a beautifully styled setting that is both romantic and creative; and a dance floor that is full from beginning to end, often in to the early hours. We will work in close collaboration with you to produce a wedding that encompasses all the above and more, whilst guiding you through a planning process that is both effortless and enjoyable.

As planners we are knowledgeable, calm, efficient and approachable. We love getting to know our clients, and believe that listening to your story and understanding exactly what makes you tick is key to creating a day that is original, authentic, and most importantly, fun. We take on a select number of events per year, the majority of which are blank canvas weddings and all of which are one of a kind.

What is a blank canvas wedding?

Great question. A blank canvas wedding is one that is often (but not always) held at a dry hire venue or somewhere that offers total flexibility when it comes to choosing suppliers and styling the space. We love them because they offer the freedom to create a truly distinctive and personal celebration; to handpick the best possible suppliers for the brief and budget; and to get dynamic with design. The rewards for both client and planner when the day comes together are immense.

Of course, we are not limited to dry hire venues only. We have worked at some incredible venues that have an events team, in-house caterers and/or furniture already included in the hire fee but still offer design flexibility. Who we are

I’m Sama- Owner and Lead Planner/Designer

I don’t have the typical corporate or event background that many wedding planners boast. My background is purely creative; I went to drama school following university and was an actress for a number of years before I fell in love, started planning my hypothetical wedding, and realised that in wedding planning there was a vocation that suited my passions, proficiency and eye for design more.

Utterly Wow Wedding Planning & Design was founded in 2013 as a result of this realisation and has grown quickly and organically over the last five years. Every day I get a genuine thrill from providing a service that is so personal, so varied and so important. Many of my clients become and remain firm friends, and I’m grateful to meet and work with such lovely, creative, generous folk.

So what else about me?

I’m a free-spirited soul with an affinity for California who married a traditionalist with a dislike of travelling. We have a beautiful son called Frank who features way too heavily in my Instagram feed. I work from home: mainly at my dining room table but occasionally in my office upstairs. I drink Yorkshire Gold tea and ice-cold white wine. My only regret about leaving the acting world is that I never became famous enough to be asked to go on Strictly Come Dancing.

This is Helen…

She joined the team in 2016 as a freelance Assistant Planner and Coordinator, and is a total asset to the business, both in capability and personality. She hails from the North-West and now lives in the heart of Kent with her beau and their curly cockapoo. She has a filthy sense of humour and only wears socks if she really, really has to.
